Senior Housing Properties Trust Announces 11 Properties Recently Recognized for Excellence

NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Senior Housing Properties Trust (Nasdaq: SNH) today announced that 11 of its buildings have been recognized recently for awards by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as follows:

These properties are managed by The RMR Group LLC. The RMR Group LLC manages Senior Housing Properties Trust and it is the majority owned operating subsidiary of The RMR Group Inc. (Nasdaq: RMR). The RMR Group LLC is responsible for providing all aspects of property management services to over 700 buildings with over 75 million square feet of commercial office, industrial, medical office, lab and retail space.

Ten buildings recently achieved ENERGY STAR certification. ENERGY STAR certified buildings must meet strict energy performance standards set by the U.S. EPA. To be eligible for ENERGY STAR certification, a building must earn an ENERGY STAR score of 75 or higher, indicating that it performs better than at least 75% of similar buildings nationwide. SNH’s ENERGY STAR program management is performed by RMR. SNH and RMR are ENERGY STAR Partners.

The Texas Center for Athletes in San Antonio, TX, was recently designated as a BOMA 360 Performance Building by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International 360 Performance Program. The BOMA 360 Performance Program® sets standards that are often referred to in the market for operational best practices in the commercial real estate industry. Earning the BOMA 360 label indicates that BOMA believes the building is outperforming the competition with regards to its operations and management.
